Pope Francis arrived in the Jose Marti Revolution Square to officiate his first Mass in Cuba in front of some 300 thousand Cubans from all over the country.

A group of personalities and pilgrims from other countries were waiting from His Holiness since earlier in the morning in the Square that displays beautiful colors for the occasion.

The Pope traveled from the Apostolic Nunciature in the Havana municipality of Playa, where he spent the night after arriving on Saturday afternoon from Rome and receiving shows of love and hospitality from the Cuban people that gathered on the sides of the road to welcome him.

According the official program, Francis will pay a courtesy visit to Cuban President Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace at 4 pm.

Later in the day, he will go to the Havana´s Cathedral to meet with priests, seminarians and religious people.
