The hospital of gynecology and obstetrics in the community of Guanabacoa, known as La Fátima has improved its services, a non-casual leap; but rather, a fact adequate to the breakthrough of its requirements through a process of repair and maintenance which are carried out in this center.
It goes without saying an improvement of its recovery through the finished works during 2016. The façade has been recently painted, and a bust of José Martí and a flagpole placed there. The entrance with a bright light, the lobby renewed; an ensemble showing a new view to those coming to the institution.
The most recent is the reopening of the Neonatology service in the original place where it was always located, which had not received any investment for thirteen years. The service was rendered in another area where it had been relocated. It counts on all the necessary means for the treatment and diagnosis of the newborn babies who are admitted there in fourteen beds, distributed in the positions of intermediate care, intensive care and the REALTA care; and above all, with an excellent human capital.
The repair of the pharmacy and the theater was also finished; the administrative block is today concentrated in one single area, showing a luxurious aspect. The ward of perinatal cares was also finished. Now, it has eight beds, with the room for the mother in critical state (which at present not any patient with that situation has). It is perfectly air-conditioned, and with much comfort. Counting also with a resting place for the physicians who are in room round-the-clock, and the corresponding nurse rotation.
Another area benefitting in this process of repair and maintenance of the Emergency Ward, the outpatient department is already ended, and that of the infirmary station. Still in execution, in the own emergency ward, the hallway properly covered with ceramic tiles; the reception, the waiting room, with new stone benches; and also, the entrance for ambulances.
Next to the emergency ward, also benefited, the departments of Information and Admission, adding also, the X-ray department, that for ultrasound, and the two laboratories: the clinic laboratory and that for transfusions. We can observe some change in the area of the stairways that was repaired and where lights and banisters were set.
The maintenance work produced satisfaction to the workers. The work conditions were improved, especially for the duty room of Gynecology-Obstetrics, and one for Anesthesia. The main repair of the Neonatology service was done as well. The resting room of the physicians there received better comfort.
For this year, the Direction of the center has planned the complete repair of Room A of operations of the Surgical Unit, the repair of Room E for Cesarean during the surgical puerperium, and besides that, they will apply maintenance to rooms F and B.
As we refer to Dr. Yanira Noalis Díaz Valdés, Director of the hospital, day after day, the workers are appealed to their consciousness to care for the result of all this effort being done, and to watch over the considerable investment to maintain the quality of the work done. The family are urged to collaborate. A simple way – said by the young director – is that patients and caretakers look after the sanitarian network, not to drop bandage that may clog it.To care for walls and the cleaning, the seats, the door catches. In short, to enjoy the right to a good service, and to demand it if it fails.
In brief, to celebrate with the joy of the arrival of the benefit of the main beneficiary, the baby. Not to leave any trail of empty bottles, nor food waste around the institution; likewise, benches for the waiting families should not be damaged. In brief, our duty is to look after that collective asset. Therefore, acting this way, we care for the economy of our country; thus, behaving like that, we make sustainable the achievement of the Cuban health care in the benefit of the main target group: our people.
