The seventeenth case of a patient with imported Zika virus has been confirmed, which corresponds to a Cuban health worker, 35, who lives in the town of Yara, Granma province and arrived in the country from Venezuela on June 7.

The day after her return she showed moderate rash in the front part of her chest, face and back, without other symptoms, reasons for which she went the polyclinic in her neighborhood, from where she was sent to the Celia Sanchez Hospital in Manzanillo. There she was admitted and blood samples were taken for study and sent to the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK).

On June 14 the institution’s laboratory reported that the patient was positive for Zika virus.

She is still hospitalized, in good general condition and with favorable evolution.
