Even though it is difficult to believe by those in the world, who still feel the humanism as a fundamental principle and a language of love, understanding and peace among the nations existing in this planet.
The matter is, that a government in this world, feared by all, because of their powerful economy and weapons, is capable of declaring a hospital from a small country, where children are suffering from heart diseases, as DENIED HOSPITAL, a category that makes it a target of a blockade capable of impeding the acquisition – for that health institution – of pharmaceutical items, and necessary additives for the treatment of sick children, or their surgery.
This happens, and it is not fiction of a terror movie, but, really, state terrorism, with the incorporation of the Pediatric Cardio Center William Soler of Cuba, since April 1961, to the category of DENIED HOSPITAL, what has brought about, with thepassing of years, a victim of its services, and; likewise, of its little patients,by imposing measures like these:
-The imposition of new conditions for the sale of products which already had previous license, to be applied to the center; provided that it does not comply with what is stated in each acquisition.
These demands pretend to control destiny and use of the product, and the prohibition to apply them to foreign patients who ask for the service of the hospital. In fact, “… the restrictions to the import of medical items are of such a magnitude that they result impracticable. They include the verification, by the USexporter, of the use of the product or equipment in its final stage, and the prohibition of selling to Cuba products and equipment of advanced technology.
-Because of this “category” imposed to the Havana cardiocenter, the enterprises Numed, Aga Boston and Scientific, cannot keep on supplying the dispositive additions used in the management of diagnosis and treatment withinterventionist catheters (such as catheterisms, coils, guides, stents).
-Those children who need the above-mentioned procedures- whenever the hospital is unable to find other alternatives- these patients have to accept heart surgery, to solve their situation, with higher probability of complications and mortality; as well as, the increase of costs for the institution and the country.
The William Soler Hospital does not have access to the purchase of the sets of percutaneous gastrostomy, made in USA, that are required for undernourished patients, without the possibility of adequate feeding through the mouth; that is why they should be applied a surgical gastrostomy.
.-Owing to the economic financial Blockade against Cuba, and their cruelty which affect our health services, the efforts to acquire articles for the pediatric Cardio center, in other countries, and even in other continents, not only cause delays and significant increaseof costs, but also the lack of them, when they are needed with urgency, in patient in a serious situation.
There are not doubts…”the economic financial blockade against our country, constitutes; likewise, a fundamental component of the policy of State Terrorism, which, in a silent, systematic, accumulative, inhuman andimpiousway, affects the population –no matter the age, sex, race, religious belief, or social position.”
In the light of these times, when the United States seem to have reconsidered their policy towards Cuba, all aggressions against the island have to disappear, and the blockade is one of the cruelest and unjustifiable weapons to insult our people, a genocide act to which all worthy human beings must say, “Stop! That’s too much!” Because, as Fidel said –historic leader of theCuban Revolution- “/…/ what is a blockade?A silence atomic weapon that kills men, women, adolescents, children/…/”
