Daouda Azoupiou, Burkina Faso´s Minister of Sports and Recreation, said that the brutal blockade against Cuba, which also attacks sports, must cease because it hinders the economic development of the country.
Azoupiou is one of the personalities attending the International Congress Cubamotricidad 2018 taking place at the Havana Convention Center and he held a working meeting with PhD. Antonio Becali, president the Cuba´s National Institute for Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).
The African leader told ACN that it was an honor to sign a collaboration agreement between both countries, through which the Cuban experts in different sports could help the development of Burkina Faso´s high performance athletes.
Cuba has a lot of history in sports, and its coaches are excellent; we need to develop ourselves to improve international results and this would be a great opportunity, said Azoupiou.
In addition to the cooperation contract, we also intend to exchange in other sectors that may be of benefit to our students, increasing the number of scholarships in the International School of Sports, here in Havana, from which many Burkina Faso young people have graduated, the African official noted.
We will also take advantage of the conditions of preparation existing in Cuba and we will bring teams to train with the experienced coaches and athletes. The history of the Cuban sports movement is very rich and is very popular in our country, Azoupiou added.
