Cuba’s First Vice President of the Council of State and Ministers Salvador Valdes Mesa was welcomed on Thursday in Hanoi by the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong.
During the fraternal meeting, both leaders reviewed the current state of relations between both peoples, Parties and Governments, characterized by the political trust, brotherhood and solidarity. They also looked at the advances of the economic-commercial relations, investment and cooperation prior to the official visit of the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party to Cuba.
Valdes Mesa heads an official delegation to attend the activity for the 45th anniversary of the first visit of the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro to Vietnam in the province of Quang Tri. Fidel was the only Head of State that visited in the middle of the war, the liberated zones in the south of the country.
In a friendly atmosphere, the First Vice President also met with President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and official talks with the member of the Political Bureau and First Prime Minister Trong Hoa Binh.
The Cuban delegation was made up by the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, the Director of Asia and Oceania of the Foreign Ministry, Alberto Blanco Silva and Cuba’s ambassador to that sister nation, Lianys Torres Rivera.
