Improvement in the country’s education system, with special emphasis in teaching and learning the History of Cuba was the main subject during the second day of the working commissions in the National Assembly in which deputies debated strategic issues for the country’s socio-economic development.

During a rich analysis, the deputies of the Commission in the Attention of Youth, Children and Women’s Rights, stressed on the professional self-improvement of educators, united to the true transformation of the contents and methodology, which constitutes the pillars in advancing this prioritized sector.

The parliamentarians were accompanied by First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel who supports the idea that self-improvement in education on the island has an essential position.

Another important event on Tuesday’s sessions at Havana’s Convention Center was the Commission on International Relations support of the Declaration of  the Revolutionary Government regarding the Presidential Memorandum of US President Donald Trump on his administration’s change of policy towards Cuba.

Deputy Yolanda Ferrer Gomez, on behalf of her colleagues, read a text that points out that the US President, badly advised and misinformed on Cuba’s reality reverted the path towards the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Regarding agriculture, the legislators on that working commission, demand the need to increase specialized and qualified forces aimed at guaranteeing the sustainability of the development programs approved in the sector.

Meanwhile, the Commission in the Attention of Services announced that despite the fact that the metrology assurance in the services to the population advances, there are still problems, due to fact that the national industry has not been capable of responding to the demands of the fabrication of the weights because of a lack of raw materials.

Up until now, 60 thousand  induction cookers have been sold of an annual plan of 285 thousand, activity that has been delayed due to the lack of coffee makers, article that completes the unit and which is expected to arrive in the country in August.

The parliamentarians also learned that during the first five months of the year, one thousand 670 transit accidents occurred in the country inflicting in 314 deaths and three thousand 478 injured by collisions, needing an urgent compliance of the current Safety Code.

The Commission on Constitutional and Legal Issues discussed, in compliance with the plans and strategies for the prevention and fight against drug consumption on the island reaffirming that Cuba will not allow this issue to affect society.

It was announced that the epidemiology situation in the country was favorable compared to other periods although there is still vulnerabilities in some territories in its fight against epidemics transmitted by mosquitos.
