The President of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro, attended on Friday night the inaugural ceremony of the 7th Summit of the Americas, held at the ATLAPA Convention Center of Panama City.

This is the first time Cuba is present in these meetings of hemispheric nature since its first edition in Miami, Florida, in December, 1994, due to the persistent demand of Latin American and Caribbean countries and its process of integration, ACN reported on April 10.

Like the rest of the heads of state and government and delegations invited to the Summit, Raúl Castro received shortly before the greetings of Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela.
