The Regional Business Manager of the Molecular Immunology Center, Giselle Velazquez Manrique, concluded a visit to Ukraine, diplomatic sources confirmed in this capital on Sunday.

During her stay here, the Cuban official met with representatives of several Ukrainian centers linked to pharmacology and medicine, who expressed interest in Cuba’s innovative biotechnological products.

In a country where cancer is the one of the main causes of death, collaboration between Cuba and Ukraine would be a positive contribution to combat that negative trend in the healthcare sector, official sources noted.

Recently, Cuba and Ukraine renewed the program to continue to treat children affected by the Vladimir I. Lenin nuclear power plant accident in Chernobyl in April 1986.

Said program, whose initial stage concluded in Cuba in 2011, benefited more than 23,000 children in its first 20 years.
