The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, has urged Wednesday to meet demands related to public transportation during a visit to Evelio Prieto Bus Production Company, in the western province of Artemisa.
During his talk with workers and executives, Diaz-Canel highlighted the role of the enterprise to help develop transportation in Cuba.
Artemisa, established as a province on January 1, 2011, has a population of just over 500,300 and an area of approximately 4,000 square kilometers.
Since becoming president in April this year, Diaz Canel has made government visits to Cuban provinces, where he has been interested in the recovery efforts after Hurricane Irma in September 2017.
The president’s tours also include areas affected by subtropical storm Alberto, which last May and June caused severe damage in the central region of the island.
In his visits, Diaz-Canel has also noted the development of important social and economic projects.
