Miguel-Diaz-Canel was elected President of the Republic of Cuba this Thursday, by absolute majority of National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP, Cuban Parliament) members, in a free, direct and secret vote, during the Fourth Extraordinary Session of this legislative body.
Current difficulties, aggravated by the tightening of the U.S. blockade and limited material resources, have not prevented Cuba from completing construction of more than 24,500 homes through August this year, 75% of the plan set for the year, as President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez confirmed in a working meeting with authorities from different provinces and directors of this program, according to the Presidency’s website.
Cuban company Acosta Danza began this Tuesday a tour around Asia, with which it will arrive in October to Chinese stages to perform for the first time in Singapore, under the general direction of Carlos Acosta.
The National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) is meeting this Wednesday in advance of the extraordinary session it will hold Thursday to elect the highest officials of the Cuban State.
