Cuba won four titles and ratified its leadership at the World Boxing Championship that wound up on Thursday in Doha, capital of Qatar.
Light weight Lázaro Álvarez and semi-heavyweight Julio César La Cruz won their third crowns in this type of competitions a day after flyweight Joahnys Argilagos and middleweight Arlen Lopez obtained theirs, ACN Reported on October 15.
On Thursday, Lázaro beat Azeri Albert Selimov by technical knockout, while La Cruz set the pace from the start against Irish European champion Joseph Ward, to end the fight 3-0.
Flyweight Yosbany Veitía won a silver medal vs. Azeri Elvin Mamishada in a 3-0 fight that gave the gold to Mamishada, while Erislandy Savón also obtained a silver medal a day before.
The bronze medal obtained by light welterweight Yasnier Toledo completed the 4-2-1 medals won by Cuba.
Russia (2-1-1) and Azerbaijan (1-1-2) occupied the following positions.
