Much of the Cuban delegation installed itself in the village of the 31st Olympic Games in the early hours of Tuesday, after a quiet trip from Havana.

After over eight hours of flight, an agile customs clearance and a few minutes wait for luggage followed by efficient transportation to the complex of 31 buildings erected in the western region of Rio de Janeiro city, the group that arrived from Havana made itself comfortable in its residential block, ACN reported on July 26.

The delegation includes competitors and trainers of cycling, shooting, gymnastics, swimming, rowing, table tennis, volleyball, fencing and archery. At noon that day, the over 3,600 apartment building had welcomed weight lifters and boxers that had been training in Brazil as part of their preparation for these Games.

Likewise, this process includes representatives of other disciplines such as athletics, judo, wrestling and badminton, who will also take part in the competition that will be inaugurated on August 5th.

Executives, headed by Antonio Becali, president of the National Sports Institute, and specialists from the Institute of Sports Medicine, computer specialists and other officials are also part of the Cuban delegation of athletes that started its first training activities in the afternoon.
