Winning in my modality was a personal goal, said on July 15 in Toronto, Canada, Cuban single scull athlete Angel Founier, champion in the closing date of the rowing competitions corresponding to the 17th Pan American Games.

At the Royal Canadian Heley, he told the press moments after his victory:  “I was in perfect condition and with full confidence to win.” He did so in 7: 51.39 minutes, followed by local Rob Gibson (7: 57.94) and Argentinean Brian Rosso (8: 01.38 ), who obtained the silver and bronze medals, in that order.

With the title won on Wednesday, Fournier scored his second golden metal in the continental competition since he previously won in double sculls (2x) men, with his partner Eduardo Rubio.

I will continue training with the same intensity, said the 27 year-old rower, in the hope of getting good results in the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro 2016.
