Cuban Guerrero Attends Badminton Tournament in the U.S.A.

With the presence of Cuban badminton player Osleni Guerrero, the International Series Tournament of Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles, U.S.A., will start on Wednesday, a competition that will give the winner 2,500 points for world ranking.

In that tournament, to be held until February 7, Guerrero will debut against Surinamese Soren Opti in the second round, because they both got a bye in the opening day, ACN reported on February 2.

If he wins in his first presentation, the Cuban player, runner-up at the Pan-American Games Guadalajara 2011, would face the winner of the game between Jinn Ye Tan, of Malaysia, and Italian Indra Bagus.

Also taking part in that competition will be U.S. player Howard Shu; Martin Giuffre (Canada), Edwin Ekiring (Uganda), Bjorn Seguin (U.S.A.), Rosario Maddaloni (Italy) and Mexican Lino Munoz and Job Castillo, among the top ranked.

Osleni, occupying 57th place on the world list with 25,220 points, should use this opportunity to keep adding points in his aspirations to guarantee the ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for August 5-21.

In addition, before the close of the Olympic qualifying process –May 1st-, Guerrero should participate in March 3-6 in the 2nd International Series Tournament of Peru; and then compete in that of Jamaica, and on March 22-27 he will defend the crown of the Giraldilla de La Havana.

In the 2015 season, the Cuban badminton player won the golden medal at the International of Chile, in May; and was victorious in the tournament of Suriname in November.
