The Department of Arbitration of the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) announced the names of the 40 referees who will attend the World Futsal Cup Colombia 2016, one of which is that of Cuban referee Sergio Enrique Cabrera, 38.
Of the 40 chosen, 12 were in Thailand 2012, including British Marc Birkett and Cuban Cabrera, second and third referee of the final game between Brazil and Spain four years ago, Cubasà reported on August 30.
The UEFA is the confederation that contributes the largest amount of referees to the tournament (10), followed by CONMEBOL, 9; Asia, 8; CONCACAF, 6; Africa, 5 and Oceania, 2.
During the next World Futsal Cup, the 56 games will be controlled by an arbitral quartet, consisting of two referees and two assistant referees -a third referee and a timekeeper.
The 7th World Futsal Cup will take place between September 10 and October 1 in the cities of Cali, Medellin and Bucaramanga, and the opening game will be the one between Cuba and Egypt, on Saturday 10th at five p.m. ( Cuba time), at the Ivan de Bedout Coliseum of Medellin.
