The main figures of today’s Cuban tae-kwon-do are now training in Lima, Peru, headed by Glenhis Hernández, 2013 world champion and 2011 Pan-American champion in the 73 kilogram division.
As scheduled, the five Cuban athletes will stay for 21 days in the Peruvian capital to then compete in the open tournament of that South American nation, ACN reported on October 13.
The group is also composed of Yosmailis Ferrer (46), Yamicel Núñez (57), Yislena Lastre (62) and Dariana Perrera (49), now coached by young trainer José Amaranto Delisle.
Iván Fernández, technical director of the Cuban Tae-kwon-do Federation, told the press that representatives of Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay have also confirmed their presence in this competition.
This will be the beginning of training for the new Olympic cycle, which will end with the Tokyo 2020 Games.
