The club PAOK finalizes details to begin the defense of its crown in the Greek professional volleyball league, with the return of Cuban Javier Jiménez and the debut of his fellow countryman Rolando Cepeda.

Assistant attacker Jiménez opened the way last year and is now followed by Cepeda and Osmani Uriarte, hired in another European league, in search of professional realization and of increasing the level of volleyball in Cuba, the Cubasi Web site reported on October 27.

Jiménez and Cepeda (captain of Cuba’s national team), are already carrying out practice sessions for Saturday’s game against the Panathinaikos team in the A-1 League of Greece, composed of 12 clubs.

In turn, PAOK will also compete to become the Greek champion of the European League, and its first opponent will be Tours, current champion of France.

The Cuban players will return to their country in December to discuss the Final Four in January against Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico, in search of a ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro-2016.
