The exponents of Cuban athletics will have next year important competitions, including the World Indoor Championship and the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Indoor Championship, to be held from March 17th through the 20th in Portland, United States, will be for Cuban athletes a demanding event in the path that will take them to the Olympics, ACN reported.
Specialties like pole, triple and long jump, 100 meters hurdles, and 800 meters for women should be present at the U.S. Championship, in which between eight and 10 athletes representing the island will compete.
Taking part in the Olympics in Brazil will be 71 Cuban athletes, which are now training to achieve the more demanding records set by the local commission, as compared to those requested by the international federation.
For these tournaments, the Caribbean nation will have, as its main figures, pole-vaulter Yarisley Silva and discus thrower Denia Caballero, the two of them champions in the world competition held in Beijing, China, in August.
In addition, triple jumper Pedro Pablo Pichardo, silver medalist at this year’s world competition, will be quite a rival in the event, since he will seek to reign in every competition he attends.
