From Tuesday, delegates from more than 16 countries will participate in the First International Convention Cubagua 2019, to be held until March 22nd at the Convention Center in Havana.
This meeting has gathered more than 500 specialists, exhibitors, both national and foreign, delegates, participants or foreign guests representing more than 16 countries, said Antonio Rodriguez, President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba, at the opening of the event.
Cubagua will provide all the facilities for the exchange of knowledge, the dissemination of updated information and the promotion of technologies and products associated with water management and use, aimed at improving the management of good practices in the water sector, said in the meeting chaired by Ines Maria Chapman, Vice President of the Council of State and Ministers of Cuba, and Guillermo Garcia Frias, Commander of the Revolution.
Rodriguez highlighted the broad participation in the fair approaching the 1,330 square meters of exhibition area, of which 747 exhibit the products and technologies of businessmen and foreigners representing 62 firms from 14 countries.
This allows delegates and participants to be in direct contact with the latest technologies in water supply, wastewater treatment, construction techniques and research and projects, he said.
The official stressed the event takes place in the context of the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana, the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and World Water Day (March 22).
He also highlighted the ‘hydraulic will’, born from the initiative of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to manage water in an integrated manner at the scale of society, the economy and the environment, boosting sustainable development and security for the nation, as a fundamental human right for all.
As article 76 of the Cuban new Constitution states: ‘Everyone has the right to water. The State creates the conditions to guarantee access to drinking water and its sanitation, with due retribution and rational use’, he remarked.
